Repeat after me...

"His name is Robert Paulsen."

Unlike normal folk, we second shifters see normal things in different ways. Or we don't seem 'em at all. Case in point: the no-longer-presumed Democratic nominee's oration this evening.

So I read the transcript.

All I could think about while visualizing the "America can do better, help is on the way" part was a scene in Fight Club, when Tyler Derdun's clan is proto-Fascist 'cept for a uniting mantra. And then one of their own gets shot and someone asks, "What's his name?"

What manifests is dull, droning, boring, thoughtless, & meaningless.
"His name is Robert Paulsen."
"America can do better."
"Help is on the way."
"His name is Robert Paulsen."
"His name is Robert Paulsen."

Comments

I didn't get too much out of his speech or the convention for that matter but these things are so scripted and devoid of content I shouldn't be disappointed. The RNC will be equally as bland.

Of course I cringed each time he entitled a new "right." However, I do think he looked fairly "Presidential" tonight (except for the profuse sweating at the end but you try speaking on that stage for about 45 min.) I'm not sure exactly what that means but for me one judge on whether someone could be President or not is if I can envision their picture in the bottom right corner of the U.S. Presidents folder from elementary school. (I couldn't find an image of that folder so see if you think Kerry fits in here.)

NOTE: This should not be construed as an endorsement. Anything but.
